Wisconsin Waterfall Tour

We were not in Wisconsin for very long, simply crossing the state along its northern border with Lake Superior.  In this part of Wisconsin, there is really not much of anything.  But we discovered that there are lots of waterfalls…  At some point during this tour we crossed into Michigan, but I am still considering this the Wisconsin tour since that is where we were staying.

Saxon Falls was a long cascading fall without very good viewing access.  It was only about 100 yds from the parking lot and fenced off as protection from a steep dropoff.

Superior Falls.  The access was quite a bit more difficult, first a very steep decent to the river bed.  Then past some structure that apparently has something to do with a dam further up river, note the warning signs.  Then a nice walk up river, until you had to inch around a large rock cliff to get a better view.  Notice Randy inching around for the better shot…

Interstate Falls.  This was a very pleasant walk thru the forest, a little over a mile, partially following the river.  Very pretty and relatively easy access.  Interesting fungal growth, mushroom??

Kendall Falls.  Was in a nice little Town Park.  We enjoyed the picnic facilities and the river.

Then there were several waterfalls on the Black River.  Come to find out, Hailey and Michael camped at the end of this road and visited some of the same falls!!!

Potawatomi Falls.  The parking area was not far from the river, and there is a trail that follows the river the entire way.  Walking down river there were several viewing areas, with stairs going up and down for various views.

We walked a little further down to view the Potawatomi Gorge Falls.  Loved the cross at the top of the falls.  It didn’t really show up until photographed.  Taking it as a good omen for all that need it!!!

Rainbow Falls was the last on our tour.  We almost did not visit it as it had been a long day and when we reached the stairs to it they were so long going straight down that you couldn’t see the end of them.  The worse part was knowing that if we climbed down, we would have to climb back up.  But the chance for a fall called Rainbow was overwhelming.  Wish the fall had been as overwhelming.  The view was not at a very good angle.  Hopefully on a sunny day the mist creates a rainbow, because if not, it was very disappointing on a cloud covered foggy day!!!

Peace Love and keep the waterfalls flowing!!!
